With his delicate lines and dark imagination, Alfred Kubin is one of the most fascinating artistic personalities of the early 20th century. His works oscillate between dream and nightmare, symbolism and vision – always deeply rooted in a complex inner life. The almost surreal composition and the restrained, luminous application of colour lend the sheet an almost mystical aura – a typical example of Kubin’s ability to transform inner worlds into images.
