Vase, Johann Loetz Witwe, unidentified decoration, ca. 1903/04
The first vases with stylized leaves were already designed by Franz Hofstötter in 1900 for the World Exhibition in Paris. The strongly iridescent floral elements were taken up again in 1902 and 1903 and applied to different shapes.
These design elements are particularly impressive on monochrome backgrounds. The brown distorted threads and the twisted shape give the art object a wonderful dynamic. It almost seems as if the iridescent leaves are blowing in the wind. Such vases are rarely found on the market and are highly sought after.
