The design drawing for this sideboard was published in 1906 in the renowned international art magazine “The Studio” in a special edition entitled “The Art Revival in Austria.” The furniture, interiors, and art objects shown there were intended to exemplify the much-noticed change in the art scene and the progressive design philosophy in Austria. The particularly elaborate and rich inlay work, the Secessionist style, and the diverse materials combine in this piece of furniture to create a fantastic example from the heyday of Viennese Art Nouveau.
