Christian Ludwig Attersee (1940*), Vollmondergänzung, 2001, signed, dated and titled
Christian Ludwig Attersee is one of the most internationally renowned living Austrian artists. He studied at the Academy of Applied Arts in Vienna, where he also taught several classes until 2009. In 1984, he represented Austria at the Biennale di Venezia. He is a member of the Künstlerhaus
Wien and the IG Bildende Kunst (Vienna). Attersee has taken part in countless exhibitions and has received several awards from the Austrian government for his work. Attersee’s style is characterized by bright, vibrant colors, dynamic brushwork and figurative-symbolist motifs, which are often combined with sexual innuendos. These two works fit wonderfully into his well-known oeuvre and complement our Jugendstil collection to form a harmonious entity.
