Vase, Leopold Bauer, Johann Loetz Witwe, decor opal PG 2/177, ca. 1906
The cooperation of Leopold Bauer with the glass manufacturer Johann Loetz-Witwe Klostermuhle began shortly before the year 1902 and turned out to be a great success for both in the year 1906. Johann Loetz-Witwe Klostermuhle exhibited glasses designed by Leopold Bauer at the Milan World Exhibition and was bestowed the Grand Prix, the most important award for Arts and Crafts worldwide at that time.
The pattern of this vase was drawn by Leopold Bauer in 1906. The pattern itself shows the decoration Phenomenon Genre 2/177. Leopold Bauer may have designed this vase shape exactly for this decoration variant.
