    Description

The Paris World Exhibition in 1900 was a great success for the glassworks Johann Loetz Witwe. The Bohemian company attracted international attention with its colorful, radiant decorations that would later become known as the so-called Phenomenon Genres. As early as the 1890s, Loetz experimented with colored and strongly iridescent glass and increasingly resorted to outside artists and designers to multiply their product range.
This vase also carries such a colorful decoration. It was designed in 1899 and is almost entirely covered with silver yellow and white-yellow veining. Individual glass threads are twisted into a wave pattern. It is pressed eightfold on the sides, creating an octagonal shape that provides an exciting contrast to the organically flowing decor. The marking “Loetz Austria” can be seen at the bottom.
