This 14.6 inches tall Hagenauer head sculpture was made from a single piece of brass and soldered onto a marked base plate. Only the best metal artists at the Werkstätte Hagenauer Vienna were capable of creating a work from a single piece of metal. The initials of the craftsman, Anton Oppawa, can be found on the plinth alongside the company markings. This was a high mark of internal recognition that was only given to objects that were considered particularly well made. The design of our head sculpture was available in different versions, for example with curls, and different sizes, whereby our very minimalist example is particularly rare.
