Oswald Grill, a native of Vienna, was a freelance artist active in Dachau since 1906 after studying painting under Karl Karger at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts, as well as Carl von Marr and Alexander von Wagner at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts. After returning to Vienna, Grill became a member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus in 1908 and served as Vice President and later President of the Central Association of Visual Artists of Austria from 1917 to 1938.Grill’s artistic work, for which he was appointed professor in 1929, primarily consisted of landscape paintings that captured bright and clear natural moods, as well as portraits. His works were exhibited in venues such as the Vienna Künstlerhaus and the Munich Glass Palace.
