Vase with PG 2/679 decoration, square neck, Johann Loetz Witwe, ca. 1902
This mouth-blown vase enchants with its equally harmonious and extremely rare combination of decoration and form. Designed in 1902, the decoration captivates with its dynamic wave pattern, which is dominated by orange and silver-yellow trailing as well as fine reddish-brown threads. The true beauty of this vase lies especially in the irregularity of the iridescent waves. The conflation of matte orange tones and shimmering gold and silver accents is particularly elevated through the square shape of the vase. The four symmetrically opposed indents lead the light to an accentuation of the subtle color gradients. On the polished pontil of this rare vase you can read the matte signature “Loetz Austria”, which was used by the glass manufactory in the years 1998-1903.
